Building Handover Manuals | British Embassy Compound, Luanda – Angola

The British Embassy, based in Luanda Angola, recently refurbished the commercial office, residences and associated amenities within its compound.

Parogon Contracts were the Principal Contractors for the project, which covered works to the building fabrics – modification and/or replacement of windows, doors, staircases, floors, kitchen appliances, decoration, security gates, and fencing; mechanical services – hot water systems, sanitaryware, ventilation and drainage; and electrical services – low voltage distribution, small power, general and emergency lighting, and fire detection and alarm systems.

Dewick & Associates, in collaboration with the Principal Contractor who was based on site in Africa, provided a comprehensive Building Handover Manual. Using the British Embassy format, the manual contained detailed schedules of materials/equipment that were used in the building fabrics and building services to guide the Embassy in the event of future upgrade and/or replacement. Dewick & Associates also provided preventative maintenance and fault finding schedules. The works were done in accordance with British Standards, Regulations, and Codes of Practice.
