Construction Management Plan | Sunshine Hospital Cooling Tower Replacement, St Albans – VIC

Western Health’s Sunshine Hospital, located in St Albans, Victoria, is a 600-bed teaching hospital providing a comprehensive range of services including emergency, intensive care, women’s and children’s care, surgical, medical, aged care and rehabilitation. The hospital’s emergency department is known as one of the busiest EDs in the state, whilst the hospital has the third largest number of births of any hospital in Victoria. In October 2021, the hospital opened a purpose built, semi-permanent COVID-19 Vaccination Hub comprised of 60 cubicles on the ground floor of the multi-deck car park to serve local community.

Mechanical Services Contractor, BSA, completed works to replace the cooling towers on the roof of Building B at Sunshine Hospital in 2020/21. Works involved the removal of 10 existing towers and installation of 3 new towers, associated pipework and configuration with the Building Management System.

Dewick & Associates prepared a Construction Management Plan (CMP) to detail all key information relating to the project for the project team, authorities and other stakeholders. The CMP included a project overview and detailed roles and responsibilities, in addition to providing details of the construction program, traffic management, environmental management, OHS and communication / consultation methods.
