As part of a state government initiative, Mt Barker High School was awarded $6m worth of funding in 2020 to upgrade the school’s infrastructure in line with the Government’s objective of transitioning the final year of primary school, Year 7, to high school by 2022. The project was broken down into two separable portions with separate handover stages as follows:
- Stage 1: New Performing Arts Studio, Practical Completion End 2020
- Stage 2: Building 1 Refurbishment, Practical Completion August 2021
The Performing Arts Studio provides a dedicated learning / performance area accompanied by a preparation area, foyer and disabled amenities. The scope of Stage 2 involves Building 1 repairs and reconfiguration of existing indoor and outdoor general learning spaces, a laboratory and teacher support spaces such as offices and meeting rooms, to support a larger student body with new state-of-the-art facilities.
As a government funded project, the upgrade works fell under the realm of the Department of Infrastructure and Transport (DIT). This required project handover documentation to adhere to the Department’s stringent guidelines in order for practical completion to be sought and achieved.
Dewick & Associates were engaged to provide a complete portfolio of handover documents in-line with DIT format requirements, comprising
- Building Handover Manual
- Mechanical Services Operational & Maintenance Manual
- Electrical Services Operational & Maintenance Manual and As Installed Drawings
- Hydraulic Services Operational & Maintenance Manual and As Installed Drawings
Utilizing our bespoke and detailed tracking system, the team at D&A collected and collated supporting documentation from all sub-contractors working on the project and provided technical writing services and drafting services associated with the above.
Stage 1 documentation has been completed and approved. Stage 2 will be submitted during the second half of 2021 to achieve project handover deadlines.
