H1 Energy Efficiency Report | Rolleston Fields Building A, B, D and I

Located just 20 mins from Christchurch, Rolleston Fields is the South Island’s fastest growing sustainable hub. Providing food and beverage outlets, specialty and branded retail stores, a health and wellbeing precinct and a library, all surrounded by outdoor recreation space incorporating play areas and a skate park, Rolleston Fields ensures that Selwyn District is well serviced.

Dewick & Associates have worked with the project contracting team on Buildings A, B, D and I to demonstrate compliance with the New Zealand Building Code H1 Energy Efficiency requirements. Each building has been assessed using the NZS 4243.1: 2007 ‘Modelled Approach’ whereby the proposed building’s energy efficiency performance is compared to that of a minimum compliance reference building using IES Virtual Environment software.

The building simulation modelling accounts for building form, shading provision, glazing and fabric selections, occupancy rates and profiles, mechanical and electrical services installations and building location. Energy efficiency improvements of between 2% and 11% were achieved for the proposed buildings over the minimum compliance reference buildings.
