Mechanical and Electrical O&M Manuals | new Women’s and Children’s Hospital, SA – Aus

The new Women’s and Children’s Hospital (nWCH) is currently under construction at the SAPOL Barracks site, adjacent to the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH).

The project has progressed through several key stages of development. Construction officially commenced in April 2024 with the initiation of a $306 million early works package.

The nWCH is a major infrastructure project, and due to its scale there is a need for a well-planned and fully equipped construction compound. To support the workforce and daily operations throughout the extended build, the site includes essential temporary facilities including site offices, worker amenities, secure storage areas, and safety stations. These facilities are critical to maintaining efficiency, safety and wellbeing on site.

As part of the compound development, Sturdie was responsible for delivering the Electrical Services Systems and Remote Air Services  delivered the Mechanical Services Systems.

Dewick & Associates was engaged to prepare the Operating and Maintenance Manual for both disciplines, providing clear, practical documentation to support ongoing use, maintenance, and future upgrades. The manual ensures that maintenance teams, administrators, and consultants can confidently understand and manage the mechanical and electrical systems throughout the facility’s lifecycle.
