Chester Zoo, one of the UK’s most celebrated conservation and visitor destinations, has expanded its onsite accommodation with the development of The Reserve, a unique stay experience designed to immerse guests in the zoo’s wildlife and conservation work. The new accommodation blends high-quality facilities with a design that respects the zoo’s surrounding environment, providing visitors with an exceptional place to stay and an opportunity to learn more about Chester Zoo’s mission.

The development includes 51 thoughtfully designed guest lodges, communal facilities, and landscaped surroundings, all constructed to high standards of sustainability and longevity. Ensuring these facilities remain safe, functional, and well-maintained over their lifetime was a priority for the project team and that’s where comprehensive documentation played a key role.

Our Services

Dewick & Associates developed technical manuals to support the Builder’s handover to Chester Zoo, providing clear documentation to ensure efficient operations, and long term asset protection, including:-

• Comprehensive Building Handover Manuals – using nucleus, our online portal, we contact and collate information from the sub contractors ie Manufacturer Literature, Installation and Supply Warranties, Certificates, test results and then technically author / collate all of the information into a consolidated BHM. 
• Technical authoring for the Mechanical & Electrical O&M Manuals
• Building User Guides providing end-users and occupants with straightforward and accessible information on the building’s everyday functions.
• Maintenance Matrix provides an overview of the maintenance requirements of each trade, statutory requirements and warranty periods.

Technical documents are a vital resource for owners, operators, and trades, providing all the essential information needed to manage a facility with confidence. They consolidate key contractor and emergency contacts for quick response, product literature to ensure systems are used & maintained correctly, and certification to meet compliance requirements. By outlining preventative maintenance tasks, essential checks, and clear operating procedures, these manuals help safeguard building elements, support safety and efficiency, and extend the life of the installation.
